Quinn had been stressing about the date for awhile, which was a first for her. She was used to having whatever boy she was going on a date with wrapped around her finger. With them, they were excited to be with Quinn Fabray, Head Girl, top of her class, wealthy, beautiful, blah blah blah. Then, it was easy to be what they wanted her to be, because she knew exactly what that was. It was what everyone wanted her to be, what everyone expected her to be. With Puck… He just liked Quinn. And sometimes, it was hard to remember who that was in between all the expectations and rules and requirements drilled into her head since birth. And he wasn’t so easy to figure out either. Sometimes their conversations left her with tears, and sometimes with smiles, but most of the time, it just left her with her head spinning. While dress shopping, she found herself getting anxious with concepts of what they were going to be doing. She wasn’t so much concerned with what the date would consist of, but how it would end.
Upon arriving back at Hogwarts after dress shopping in London, Quinn changed into one of the many dresses she had purchased that day, this one black and cinched at the waist with a belt, made from lace at the collar and the sleeves. It could’ve been either casual or dressy, depending on whatever it was they were doing. After agreeing to meet him soon, she slipped on shoes and made her way down the corridors, until she found the courtyard where just a few days earlier, the demon owl stole a few strands of her hair. Remembering her newly-grown hair, she patted at it and took a deep breath before stepping into the courtyard. It caught as her eyes fell upon Puck, looking debonair in a suit and very well-groomed. It made her smile, this obvious thing he had done for her and their date, even though she liked him just the way he was. Edging towards him, Quinn smiled wider at him, hazel eyes bright. “Hey there.” She said, feeling too giddy at the moment to sit.
Puck took in a few deep breaths of air as he continued to wait for Quinn’s arrival. It was no secret that he was nervous, but nerves were a good thing, right? It showed that he cared. At least that’s what Coach would always say to him during Quidditch practice. But he never got nervous there. It wasn’t because he didn’t care, it was just because he was really good at it, so maybe there were exceptions. Not like he wasn’t good at dating, he was great at that. He just wasn’t good at going on dates with Quinn. It was mainly because they never really went on a date before for a number of reasons. He was too confused and conflicted with his feelings to ever want to spend too much alone time with her. He didn’t know how she felt about him and that was one thing that made him the most on edge. Usually he was able to read any girl with ease, either that or girls would always be so vocal about how they felt about him, but Quinn was entirely different. She didn’t wear her emotions on her sleeve and that’s what he liked so much about her. Though she made him nervous just because she was the exact opposite of what he was: smart, focused, and so much more. But people do say that opposites attract.
“You can do this, you can do this…” he said to himself softly, figuring that a quick pep talk would be good for him. When he heard footsteps coming from the distance, he quickly turned his head and jumped up to his feet. Looking at Quinn made him smile and seeing her own smile only made his grow bigger. He could’ve sworn that his heart skipped a beat when he saw her, but who could blame him? “You look… amazing,” he uttered, the boy taking a few steps closer to her for their eyes to meet. “I’m glad you came.” His arms opened and wrapped around her slender frame without much hesitation, a smile still apparent on his face after pulling away. “Well… oh, these are for you,” he stated as he went back to the bench to fetch the flowers he had gotten. “I don’t know.. girls seem to like flowers and stuff, so I figured you’d like these.” Holding them out to her he bit his lip, definitely still nervous that this date was finally beginning.
Ever since Puck had asked Quinn out on a date he was beyond excited. He had been going to bed with a smile on his face every single night and it seemed like nothing could ruin his week, even when the house elves pranked him and made him hate his favorite food. That didn’t even matter to him because he was finally getting a second chance with Quinn, not that there was ever really a first chance, but he always wanted there to be. That one night they shared together that would end up changing their lives dramatically was something special to him. Yeah sure they were drunk, but it was so much more than just a hook up to the boy. He wasn’t sure if she felt the same way, but since she was so eager and excited about this date, he had some hope. He was pacing his room when he heard Quinn and Santana come back to their dorms after dress shopping. He figured that it was finally time to get ready after a day of sitting on his bed figuring out what he was going to say, what he was going to do, and what he had to avoid to make sure that nothing bad would go wrong. He wanted this to be really perfect and memorable, so he made sure that a lot of thought went into it. “Okay… where to start…” he said to himself before finding the suit he had forced some fifth year to give him. It was just a plain black suit, nothing too fancy, but he figured it didn’t have to be. And since he didn’t wear suits that much anyways, he figured she would be impressed either way.
It took about thirty minutes for him to dress, make sure his mohawk was styled a certain way, that the right cologne was sprayed on his neck, and that his tie was centered just right. Finally after he deemed himself appropriate, Puck grabbed a blanket and the bouquet of roses he had picked up earlier that afternoon. He headed out of his dorm, past the common room, and made a B line for the kitchens. Greeting a fourth year Hufflepuff that he had talked to prior to this meeting, he quirked an eyebrow. “Do you have everything?” he asked curiously before seeing them nod and hand him over a basket. “Thanks, I owe you one.” Taking the handle in his hand, the boy then made his way out of the castle and into the courtyard where they had agreed to meet each other. He took a seat on a nearby bench and tried his best to hide everything that he had come with figuring that it’d be better to surprise her. He felt the palms of his hands begin to sweat as his leg began to fidget nervously. Usually nerves never got the best of him when it came to dates with girls, but Quinn wasn’t just any other girl. She was something special, something important and he had to make this right.
Hexed Private:
Haters gonna hate.
Whatever
Hexed Private: Puck, you never cut your hair unless someone tells you it’s getting too long. AND you are looking for a suit. Hence you are going on a date. And since you aren’t with Santana any more, the only other person I can think of that is truly of you getting all dressed up is Quinn!
Hexed Private: …stop being so smart.
Hexed Private: You finally asked Quinn out didn’t you?
Hexed Private: No… maybe…
Okay.
See you soon then.
I’m ready.
Cool. Let’s meet out in the courtyard then?
Steal some kid’s…WAIT! NO WAY!

Wait, you’re happy?
Very.
I’m ready when you are, Quinn.
Excited?
I was about to say. I thought you went crazy for a moment wanting to pick out dresses because that would had been very un-Puck like. Something else? What do you have up your sleeves?
Why would I ever want to do that? You couldn’t pay me to go dress shopping. Nothing up my sleeves, I just had to get a haircut today.. and steal some kid’s suit.
Boy what are you excited about? You’re not going…
Not exciting about dress shopping. It’s something else. Now shush.
And also date night!

Yeah, unfortunately the rebellious phase is short-lived. But you like long hair too, right?
Me either.
But it was fun while it lasted, right? And yeah.. long hair is good.
Yeah, I used a potion. Should be back to long by tomorrow morning just in time for dress shopping
and our date.
Nice. I’ll miss your short hair though. I was starting to get used to it. Sounds good. I can’t wait..
